Based in Greenwich and Blackheath, the team behind ‘YES Tests’ has more than 25 years combined teaching, tutoring and 11 plus assessment experience.
The guidance and support he received were invaluable in preparing him for the exam and boosting his confidence. He went on to pass the exam with flying colours!
Without Yes tests, I honestly don’t think my son would have passed his 11+! It’s one thing to have the knowledge to pass the test and another entirely to cope with the immense time pressure and exam conditions as a 10 year old. We were supported along the journey and I am so thankful that my son had the opportunity to practice this before the real exam. Thank you Yes tests!
The mock exams you hosted were also of great benefit as it taught our son excellent exam techniques and really prepared him well for the real thing.
R passed both his Bexley and Kent tests with flying colours. I believe he gained much confidence coming from sitting his mock exams with you. We sat mock exams at other centres but feel the realistic level of yours was key! After smashing this mock with you, he really gained confidence.
The exams which my son took with YES tests were of enormous value. Not only did the tests prepare him in terms of timing and stamina, but it enabled us to spot his areas of weakness and further support him before the real exam.
We believe that taking a mock exam should be an experience to bolster a pupil’s confidence and help to prepare them for the structures and routines of a real exam. That is why all our sessions are led by qualified teachers, skilled in making pupils feel at ease, in small and nurturing groups.
Our exams, written by our Principal, are reviewed and updated each year to reflect changes. They are simulations of a real 11plus exam which will help to build confidence, overcome nerves and drive consistency, giving your child the edge.
We will be adding further mock exam dates throughout the 2025 summer break.

The 11 plus exams are used by boroughs and individual schools to help determine whether your child is a right fit for certain academic establishments.
Taking an 11 plus mock exam is an essential part of 11+ preparation. It offers candidates the chance to benefit from the experience of taking an exam with peers, helping to reduce stress and anxiety in the real exam. In addition, the practice of sitting a timed exam and obtaining positive results is encouraging for many of the students. The results allow parents to gauge how well a child is performing and highlight areas for further study.
In our mock exam sessions, we aim to replicate your child’s most likely experience on the day of the real 11+ tests.
On the day you can expect:
A full report providing the questions which appeared on the test papers;
A record which shows your child’s score in each element of the test papers, a total score for each test and a combined score for the tests;
A ‘ranking’ score – this contains the scores of all students who have ever completed each set of test papers, allowing you to compare your child’s score to others.
Our feedback reports are usually issued within 4-5 days. After the exam is completed, we carry out a further check of answer sheets to ensure that no questions have been missed or marked incorrectly.
What does my child need to bring? On the day of the test your child will need to bring their own pencil case with 3 sharp pencils, rubber and a parent’s phone number on a slip of paper; a water bottle and small appropriate snack (if needed). If they wear glasses, or need medication such as an EpiPen, these should be packed in the child’s bag.
Where will the test take place? Our tests from summer 2024 are held at Invicta Primary School, Invicta Road SE3 7HE.
What can we expect on the day of the exam? You and your child will be greeted by one of our friendly and experienced team who are well versed in making students feel comfortable and calm. They will have the chance to settle and use the toilet before the exam starts. Our GL exams have 2, roughly 50 minute papers. We have a short break halfway through all exams where children can use the toilet and have a small snack and drink (if needed). When the exam is finished, we will allow children to leave with one of the emergency contacts listed on the booking form. We aim to make the mock experience as realistic as possible, but are also aware that for some children, it may be daunting.
What happens if my child is sick or cannot attend? If your child is unwell, we require 24 hours notice before the exam. If it is possible, we will do our best to accommodate your child on another test date, provided a doctor’s certificate is provided as proof of illness. A £15 rescheduling fee will apply to cover the cost of our administration.
What happens if my child needs to use the toilet during the exam? Children will be gently asked if they can wait for the break but if they feel that they cannot, then they will of course be allowed to leave the exam room. We will not be able to pause the exam for them and this does mean that they may miss some of the allocated time. If your child has a medical condition which means they may need to leave the room during the exam, please make this known to us when filling out the booking form.
What happens if my child is late to the exam? We aim to start each exam promptly. If your child is late we will not be able to wait, but we may be able to admit them at the start of a new section of the test. Being late to an exam can be very distressing for a child and it may impact on their overall performance. If there is time at the end, we may be able to let them stay behind and complete the section they missed. This will vary from exam to exam, depending on how many pupils we have. This means that your child may get an incomplete report.
How do I know what type of test is right for the schools my child will be sitting for? For the Bexley and Kent selection tests, a GL exam should be taken. Our exams aim to provide a realistic picture of these exam formats.
Does scoring well in a mock exam guarantee my child entry into a Grammar or Independent School? No. The mock test is a practice exam, designed to identify areas for development and to help your child to improve their test technique. The results from the mock exam will not contribute to your child’s actual result – only their result from the official 11plus selection tests will be taken into account.
Our popular small group tuition classes take place on Saturday mornings at Invicta Primary School at the Blackheath Standard.
Our curriculum, designed by our Principal, has been developed to support those who decide to sit the 11plus exams, as well as supporting the KS2 National curriculum. “My son had the absolute pleasure of working with Rebecca as his tutor from Year 4 through Year 6 and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Rebecca’s guidance and support were essential in his success, not only in being selective for a place at a grammar school, but also in achieving brilliant results for his independent school applications.
She helped him get the knowledge he needed, and the confidence for his challenging exams. Communication with Rebecca was incredibly easy and she and kept me informed of my son’s progress. I highly recommend Rebecca. She is fantastic!” – Ghalia
Rebecca and the team at YES are excellent and have now successfully guided both my children into their first choice of secondary schools. Not only is the tuition first rate but the mock exams allow for a realistic experience ahead of real entrance exams. Above all, Rebecca oversees a nurturing and empathetic environment where children (and parents!) are reassured and guided through what could otherwise be an extremely stressful time. – Clodagh
Rebecca offers first-class tuition services in a great learning environment, carefully tailored to each child’s individual needs. My children have benefited enormously from structured weekly lessons that introduce core techniques and competencies, complement their school curriculum and boost confidence. Rebecca’s direction and feedback is always constructive and delivered in a way that subtly inspires them to expand horizons and go further in their learning. My daughter adds, ‘Learning with Rebecca has been lots of fun, and she helped me so much to pass my exams. She is kind and friendly, and I always looked forward to my lessons.’ – Simon H
Rebecca has been supporting our daughter for 11+ preparation and she has been outstanding, reliable and effective and our daughter loved her. – Carlo
